Clothespins

Thanks to Sadie, at It's a Boy's Life, Mr. Intensity mastered another fun activity.  Sadie used months and days of the week on clothespins. She borrowed the idea from Jamin, who did books of the Bible on clothespins.

First, I presented numbers 1-10.  He flew through them and it gave him confidence.  He slowed considerably when adding 11-20 and wanted to quit.  We have a house rule: when you start something (particularly learning activities) you have to finish.  It was fun to watch him process and figure out the puzzle.

The alphabet is on the back of the numbers but he wanted to stop after the numbers, so we'll save them for another day.

This is a perfect idea for my almost four year old! We have been doing various activities with numbers, including using cups with numbers on the side. She puts the correct number of popsicle sticks in each one or puts them in the right order. This will be a fun change for her.

Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for your great instructional ideas! I got linked to your blog a few months ago from Allison Cain's. We used to attend church with the Cains in Little Rock. One of my three children is a 4 1/2 year old boy much like yours in temperament and activity! I went and bought these clothspins, and they have been a BIG hit. We worked up to 1-20 today, and I'll make alphabet ones tomorrow. Thanks for all your great ideas!

We've added this idea to a collection of ABC activities being featured on our blog tomorrow. Hope that is okay with you. Thanks for sharing!
