Wild Flowers

In the preschool class at the Desert Botanical Garden this week we studied wild flowers. The teacher had the cutest craft idea for the flowers. Pictured is a painted styrofoam cup.

Before giving them to the children to paint, she cut 6 petals (or slits) into a styrofoam cups. Preheat the oven to 270* and put the cups in there for less than 30 seconds. The teacher said you must diligently watch the cups for they curl almost instantly at ~20-25 seconds.

The stem is a tongue depressor and the leaves (precut for the children) are made from that construction paper foam stuff. Pom poms are in the center of the flower.
