Know what this is?
It was the favorite challenge in our room's obstacle course... a bucket is hanging from rope connected to bungee cords.
Today over 40 kids participated in a multi-room obstacle challenge. In six different rooms, games had been planned for the children.
In my room, I planned for this bungee cord connecting activity, as well as a bean bag toss. Another station was a foam puzzle thingy. I also had 2 colors of play doh (that eventually became one color); the kids were to make a ball for each year of life. So, a 3 year-old would make 3 balls - a 5 year-old would make 5, etc. I was surprised at how much time the children spent at the play doh table.
The second most fun game in our room: playing putt-putt with beach balls, a shovel and a tent. The kids loved getting in the tent as much as playing golf.
One of the rooms hosted a "messy" theme - where the kiddos dug for gummy worms in whipping cream. They also had to find tiny toys in cooked spaghetti and painted with shaving cream. The snack served was "ants on a log."
Another fun mom hosted a freeze dance party. Wish I could have seen Mr. Intensity bust-a-move there.
A game that was loved by all ages was the popular carnival game where cups are stacked in a pyramid and the player throws a ball to knock the cups over.
When I quizzed him afterwards, he couldn't recall a single thing he'd done or eaten...except the gummy worms. Go figure.
Here are their sweet faces before the games began. Do you see Mr. Intensity? I think he's hiding behind the tree with about 10 other boys. Seriously.
