Simple Pleasures

My sister emailed recently to tell me some of the things she loves, or more specifically, has been "splurging" on lately. It was fun to read her list: Kashi Cereal- Honey Almond Flax, Cliff Bar - Banana Bread, FUZE drink - Banana Colada.

My response: dark chocolate...everyday about 2pm when Mr. Intensity is having room time, so I don't have to share! Actually, he's been coming to me in the afternoon saying, "I haven't had my chocolate today, Momma..." as if eating chocolate every day is an inalienable right.

Besides chocolate, I've found another pleasure: this vegetable cellulose sponge from Trader Joe's. They come in a pack of 10 or so. Part of the novelty is that they're squished almost flat; when you put them in water, they grow HUGE. Mr. Intensity LOVES to watch them grow. They feel awesome in your hand. Anyone else tried them?

This sponge makes me want to wash every one of my dishes by hand. Just kidding. It's not that great. FYI - Usually I plop the sponge in the dishwasher at the end of the day to kill all the yummy germs.

Another recent scrumptious find is Triscuit's Fire Roasted Tomato crackers. Hubby likes them, too. He ate a whole box - by himself - in a matter of hours. They are so yummy. They're salty like chips but have fiber, so they're not empty calories.

Oh! I wanna share the love. Leave a comment and tell me one of your simple pleasures. On Saturday I'll pick a winner and mail a flat sponge to you (even if you don't live in the US). Make sure to leave contact information if you don't have a blog.

Hmmm...well this sounds a bit pathetic but everyday around 3:30 (Josh is napping) I have a Diet Coke with Lime and a bit of chocolate. Any chocolate!! Just a tiny bit. Just enough to get me through the rest of the day!

Almost every day I have a small bowl of Yarnell's Homemade Vanilla ice cream with Hershey's Syrup on top. It has to be those brands, and it's perfect!

Dove Dark Chocolate Ice cream bar at naptime or bedtime. I also like Fiber One yogurt and granola bars...and I'm not a health freak, but I like these. I'm excited to read everyone else's special treats. I enjoyed your obey post. I'm copying you...and I only copy the best. :)

We love Muscadine Cider...not sure you can get that many places, but it is SO yummy. We aren't wine lovers, but we like to pour ourselves little glasses of cider and sip on it in the evening (it's pretty expensive for just juice). I also like to have a single, fresh red rose in the center of our dining table. It makes me happy.

I'm just a big kid! Every morning I drink non-fat milk with Nestle Quik powder. Chocolate milk is to me what coffee is to normal grown ups :) Tatum has never had this in her life - she calls it "mommy milk." Right now I'm digging pretzel sticks and orange juice - together! MMMM!

I discovered "Healthy Indulgence" calcium chocolates. They are part treat, part vitamin and they really hit the spot without the guilt. Sometimes I "need" a little extra calcium than the package recommends :)

this won't apply to anyone in the US but I actually found a comparible chinese restaurant here that is like in the US and serves Chicken and Broc. I am in heaven and I discovered it at the beginning of summer and it is such a joy. I miss American Chinese food and it is so nice of God to fill this simple pleasure for me.

I have a secret stash of dark chocolate, too -- 70% cocoa -- but somehow our son has found out about it and asks for it. He's not typical -- he likes really dark chocolate and black coffee, and he's not even 4. :)

I love the tomato Triscuits, too, but those darn things have MSG in them -- I realized the next day when I was covered in hives! Oops.

My other simple pleasure is Publix Mint Cookie frozen yogurt. You feel like you're eating something a lot more decadent than it is.

Merranda is the winner! I told hubby to pick a number between 1 and 13. He said, "four." Congrats, bloggy friend.
