Cinnamon Germs

When it's time to wash hands, it takes all of 10 seconds for Mr. Intensity.  An Exaltation of Larks shares this fun little experiment with cinnamon representing germs to teach kids how to wash their hands efficiently.   I thought sure I'd found the solution to helping Mr. Intensity understand that it takes time to wash off the germs.
The bathroom smelled heavenly cinnamon-y, but still only took him 10 seconds to wash.  Oh well, I tried.

Oh man! This was my plan for Josh and today's Training Tuesday...

If you come up with any way to slow him down PLEASE let me know. I am desperate for a little cleanliness, ya know? I could use help with the toothbrushing too!

Great visual tool! At school we teach the kids to sing a song while they wash up. The ABC song with the sing with me next time ending(sometimes twice if they sing too fast) or Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I know it's not 30 seconds each time, but it's more than 10!!

Landon will choose a differnt song each time. Jesus Loves Me and Row Row Your Boat are favorites!

We have the opposite problem with handwashing in our house. Morgan has become obsessed with having clean hands and insists upon counting to 20 (really slowly) each time she washes them. Sounds like a Mom's dream, right? But, she has sensitive skin and washes too frequently, has developed a bad case of red, dry, dishpan hands...So, unbelievably, we're trying to teach her to wash a little less often.

Just wanted to let you guys know that we are praying for you guys as the big move is coming up. Andy has to go to Little Rock for work in April. Maybe if he has any free time, he'll get a chance to look you guys up.
