Mr. Intensity, Sister and I took Mom and Dad downtown Friday morning to tour the capitol and eat at The Root Cafe (which was one of the best meals I've eaten at a restaurant in a long time.)
Before heading downtown Friday morning, Mr. Intensity unloaded on the grandparents everything he had memorized thus far this semester (which is a lot) plus showed them his lapbook on the Sun King. Since both my parents are retired public educators, they esteem and reward education. Mr. Intensity was rewarded with a nice Lego set.
My mom's birthday is tomorrow, she requested a pound cake. Delicious even though it didn't look like a winner.
Something you should know about my side of the family: they really don't know how to rest. Dad started cleaning my nasty, filthy, haven't-been-cleaned-in-40-years windows and just couldn't stop. He ended up taking apart 5 storm windows and cleaning them this weekend, which was no small feat.
And see those bushes outside that window? They have really been getting on my nerves. Not only do they look too big from the curb, they are blocking precious sunlight into my home.
It all started with a few snips just to reach the windows to wash them.
I'm confident the bushes will grow back. If they don't it will just make it easier to dig them up in the spring.
Now you can see the window go to the ground.
The front of the house looks a million times better.
The whole family got in on the action! We even found a rake for Baby Girl.
Note giant pile of bushes by the curb on the left of the picture. YAY!
Thanks, Mom and Dad, for coming this weekend. I'm thankful for your visit. :) Happy birthday, Mom. I hope you come back soon. Maybe we will rest the next time?

It sounds like a wonderful way to spend the weekend with your family. Thanks for linking up, again. :)
That does look a million times better! So glad your parents got to come. :)
Also, in the last photo, only a princess would wear her "fur coat" to rake the yard. :)
Big bushes really age a house so it is great to get rid of them! Looks nice. And your daddy cleaning storm windows? AWESOME!
