Green Popcorn and Good Books

Even though it's not yet March we're ready for St. Patrick's Day! John Isaac and I used the air popper to make popcorn for popcorn balls. He was a bit zealous when adding the food coloring (the coating looked black in the pan.)

My hubby has fond memories of using this very machine as a child. Thanks Magaw for passing along the popper!

BTW, if you're looking for a good children's book on popcorn this one is our favorite. We also have a copy of de Paola's Quicksand Book.

Someone gave us both books because, "He's that kind of child." I'm serious, the giver actually said that about Destructo. He likes to know how and why things work the way they do. That's what makes Montessori and homeschooling so fun for us.

My mother-in-law, affectionately known as Magaw, also knows Destructo is that kind of child. For his birthday and Christmas she gave him a BUNCH of Just Ask books. We read at least a handful of those books everyday. Christopher, the main character who's a mouse, is our good friend. He asks the best questions! What is electricity? What is a rainbow? Why does it float?
