Knives! Montessori Style

Yep, that's a sharp serrated knife. He had been watching the washing machine turn. I *thought* he was safe so I turned my back to scrub the floor. What's harmful about watching dirty clothes? As a woman, I don't hear knives beckoning me at random times to pull them out. Mr Intensity is a knife lover - just like all the men in Daddy's family. He saw them in the open cabinet over the washing machine and greeted me like this... (note the fabric softener ball in the left hand.) After pulling my eyebrows off the ceiling, I *tried* to turn this into a learning opportunity.
We emptied the knife block on the counter and began to organize the knives as red rods.

Putting them back into the block was also a great exercise in hand-eye coordination.
Never a dull day around here.

My son would love this. He goes to a Montessori school. Luckily at home I have kept his fascination with sharp things limited to a collection of scrapbooking scissors. We bought a set of 12 with their own rack just for him!

I love how you handled the potentially dangerous situation with grace and serenity.
Thanx for visiting my blog. Hope I see more of you.

Whoa! I bet you were thankful he didn't go bamming on anything! Way to be creative and a quick thinker!

I am proud of you for not punishing him or making him feel guilty for liking knives! He can't help it; it's in his blood!

I am in awe of how you handled the situation. I probably would have been screaming.
