Fall Foliage Fun

Phoenix has two seasons - summer and summer's coming.  It's no wonder that kids in here find difficulty discerning the seasons.

Yesterday's art group began with a mini-discussion on the four seasons.  Even though autumn is approaching most of the northern hemisphere, the leaves don't fall here until November - if they ever leaf leave the tree.

No Time for Flash Cards gave us the fodder for our falling foliage fun. [Can you say that 5 times, fast?!] It gave the children a great scissor work out.  Mr. Intensity has drastically improved his skills in recent months.

Next they drew on coffee filters.  I gave each of them 4 filters stapled together to make a "book."  Mr. Intensity decided to title his: Crazy Book.

Then they colored on a single filter and we turned them into butterflies, complete with pipe cleaner antennae, googly eyes, and a pom pom nose.
