This man is a real man's man: WWII veteran and loves to talk about firearms. He's an ardent supporter of the NRA...and even bought his wife a .40 caliber handgun - what a man! In his wallet today, he whipped out a list of states that recognize his Texas concealed carry license. All the while he was sword fighting with his great-grandson. Kindred spirits, I tell you.
On more than one occasion, this fella made me laugh out loud. He's not a particularly funny man, as much as he is ...um... particular.
As he took a walk down memory lane and told us some stories of his childhood, I couldn't help but think he was a bit like Mr. Intensity as a kid. A hard charger. He has a pair of boots made from a rattlesnake's skin, the snake's life was snuffed out by Great Grandpa stomping on it. The man celebrated his 85th birthday in September and gets around like a spring
He met Shirley, his second wife, at a square dancing function in their town. Before marrying each other, both of their first marriages lasted 50+ years (their spouses passed on). When leaving today he said, "We have 50 more to go in this marriage!"
