Tips for Being Healthy - Eating Well

Tonight I was able to share about one of my passions: eating well. Here is the four page document I put together for the talk.

Thanks for sharing!

I keep a bottle of canola in the cabinet for the occasional cake, etc. Would you use coconut oil for those uses instead?

I knew soy was controversial, but I had no idea there were so many reasons why.

When I finished the last bit of canola, I started using melted butter or coconut oil for the times when a recipe called for canola. The coconut oil tastes yummy in baked treats!

I wouldn't recommend using canola oil, but if you have a couple recipes that you really don't want to change the oils/fats in, I just found out that some health food stores sell organic, cold-pressed (expellar pressed) canola oil. It's still a vegetable oil, but at least it is processed in a healthier way....

Thanks for sharing all of this, Julie! Do you mind if I pass it along to family and friends? :)

Kiara - please pass it on!

Julie,
Loved this! I just passed it onto some friends and family. It reiterates what my sister has been saying for a long time (you'd be BFFs if you lived near each other). It is a good reminder for me (especially since I've been giving myself passes to eat lots of refined sugar as a pregnant woman). I might post it on my Facebook page too. :)

Okay, first thanks so much for all this info! I'm 50lbs or more overweight and I have heard so many conflicting things about nutrition - it is so confusing! Don't eat fat - for example! Thanks so much! I'm a mom of 3 and I want to do better! I checked out "KING CORN" dvd at the library yesterday and my husband watched it and it was so educational. We currently eat fast food, lots of corn syrup and lots of processed foods (box and freezer stuff). What do you guys eat as a family? What should I start buying first? I'm in Ft. Worth area so I don't have the same resources as you do. Do you mind doing a few posts of what type food you eat? Meal plans for example! This is really overwhelming but, I do feel motivated after reading your posts!

Thanks so much! Ali in Texas
