1. Mr. Intensity can't speak Kinyarawandan but he has incredible facial expressions. He taught the children the words and motions for wink and blink, neither of which could they do until the fair skinned boy arrived.
2. A special friendship was formed with David, below. John Isaac prayed every night for David, who was deaf.
3. When they visited Alphonse's family, the youngest child tried to give Mr. Intensity a chicken. I wish I could have been there for that!

isn't it amazing how kids can transcend all barriers! Awesome
It was so cute watching all those kids winking, and then the teacher was also winking! She asked JI to teach them how to do it, and write it on the board so they would know the word, that and blink. It was so cute! Also, David the deaf boy, does not sign. The others talked to him and JI wrote him a note, but I do not know how much of it he understood. The picture of them hugging is my very favorite from the whole trip. :)
