Weekend Snapshots

My weekend started Thursday morning.  With painted nails (because I wouldn't be washing dishes for 4 days!) I headed to Dallas for the Weston A Price Wise Traditions conference.  An hour later I realized I forgot my wallet; thankfully Hubby met me halfway with it.  *bless him*

I stuffed 1,200 conference bags all by myself. Maybe I'm exaggerating. I had a little help from my friends.  And I met some of my favorite foodie bloggers.

I could say more than you care to hear about this conference (and will save the details for Real Food in Little Rock).  Mostly the food was incredible.  Look at this butter.  There were 800 pounds of it.  Seriously.

Among many other things, I tasted "bubonic tonic" which was beet kvass made by fab ferments.  Potent stuff.  Other things I tasted for the first time: liverwurst, braunschweiger, lox, caviar, sablefish, pemmican, butter oil and a bunch of food by Zukay.

Lunch and dinner during the conference was served buffet style {read: I ALWAYS ate too much.}  The Weston A Price Foundation teaches about traditional foods and its preparation.  Below is an example of the yumminess: clockwise starting at noon - fermented cucumbers (pickles), raw cheese, Amish honey mustard, liverwurst, fresh butter, roasted beet salad, a few blueberries, sourdough bread, and cheesecake with a nut/date crust.  Also that day for lunch was chicken soup or veggie soup (in pork broth).  Do you understand now why I ate so much?

Meanwhile, the children were slaving away at home.  Sister washed and hung her diapers to dry.

And Hubby had them rake the yard.

I left the conference early so I could see them before bed.  I missed them like CRAZY!  I came bearing *treats* of the traditional kind...caviar.

How was your weekend?

So fun! Our co-op sells zukay beet kvass, and I wanted to like it, I really did, but it just tasted like, well, um... beets.

Thanks for linking up again!
