Wye Mountain

Expectations are everything with a spirited child.  In my 4.5 years as a mother of such a child, I have learned to prepare him as much as I can before we experience something new.  Since Mr. Intensity arrived 3 days ago, we've been talking about Wye Mountain and picking daffodils.

Nine years ago when we first moved to central Arkansas, I began seeing beautiful pictures of Wye Mountain and the Daffodil Festival.  But I've never been there until today.

What a rotten mean trick that this sign was posted.  My lil man was so sooo SOOOO disappointed that we couldn't pick flowers.  Next weekend is the festival, the weekend for picking.

It made for a memorable family picture, nonetheless.  The only family picture from today.  I love this picture so much that I've made it the header picture for this blog.  Are we havin' fun yet? or what?!
Seeing these little girls run in the field with their flowing dresses made my heart melt.  I want a little girl in a pink dress.  They didn't care about the silly "no picking flowers" rule.
After sulking for a while, Mr. Intensity warmed up.  He convinced Daddy to wrestle and tickle.  Almost a perfect Sunday afternoon.
Hubby noticed a few daffodils on the other side of the fence, very close to the road.  A few yards from the exit we pulled over and let him pick a few flowers.

He was so happy with his vase of Perrier and daffies.

Ha! That photo cracks me up! Love that you made it your header! Glad things perked up for your little man as the day progressed.

Lovely photo. I would love that place, daffs are my absolute favorite flower and a true sign spring is almost here!

This is on my "most missed" list since moving from LR. We used to go every year....um....during the picking season. I've never seen that sign. I guess I'm always late for things. :)

I have the cutest pictures of the kiddos wandering around the mountain.

Great Times...Great Memories...even with the sad face.

The last photo is precious!

If it makes you feel better, we aren't picking daffodils yet, either. Although we don't exactly have the same temptation -- our backyard is still covered in two feet of snow :)
