Adoption Update

Many have asked, "How's the adoption going?"  We're 8 weeks away to BIRTHday.

So far, so good.  We're still optimistically cautious.  Today I chatted with the birth mom; her 6 year old had a b-day party last week, her hubby's out of jail, she's eating/craving peanut butter and bologna as well as jalapenoes on ice cream.  You know, all the normal stuff.

A friend recently asked, "Are you ready? I mean, do you have the crib set up?"

Crimney!  I forgot about needing a crib - I gave ours away.  Oh well, Baby Boy can sleep in a drawer for a while, can't he?  We've still not decided on a name.

Last week, we mailed a letter to over 200 friends and ministry partners asking them to help with the ransom.  We like to think of the adoption costs as a ransom.  Because we depend on donations from others for a paycheck, we are able to raise money to cover the ransom.  If you didn't get a letter, but would like to give a tax-deductible donation click here.

In other adoption news, November is National Adoption Awareness Month.  FamilyLife (the organization we serve) is doing their part on behalf of the orphan.  There's a five part radio program that you can listen to or read transcripts.

Regarding our house - ugh.  Unless you're living in a black hole (which you aren't because you have Internet access!) you know that the real estate market stinks.  Especially in Phoenix.

Our plan now is to rent out our house.  Two single guys who are willing to rent in January, if they can find a third roommate.

If we can't find a renter to move by January, I'm not sure what we'll do.  We would like to be living in Little Rock (LR) when baby comes ~Jan 21.  Pray with us that someone would rent. Or, heck!  Buy our house, what a novel idea.

I'm torn about moving.  Somethings would be definitely easier after baby if we stayed in Phoenix:

- weather is nice in the winter...Mr. Intensity can play outside
- we have kid-friendly memberships (zoo, Botanical Gardens, Children's Museum)
- Mr. Intensity is in preschool 2 mornings a week

Life in LR would be better for Hubby and his job.  We have some friends there from living there 3 years ago, who could help (I hope!) in a pinch.  We would be within driving distance (9 hours to KY) of family.

Next week is Thanksgiving and while we won't be celebrating with family, we still have many things for which we are thankful.  Adoption is one of those things.
