Let's Laugh at the Pregnant Lady

If I don't laugh at myself I'll cry.

Yesterday I really wanted to cry.  It HURT.

I was in a store - one of those quick trips without a cart.  I stuffed my arms.  Instead of bending at the waist, I squatted to look at the bottom shelf.

Trying to stand, my quad muscles stopped working as if exhausted.  Which meant I fell - HARD - on my bum.  Because my hands were full, I didn't break the fall with my hands.  I fell into the corner of a refrigerator case.  It's a wonder the thing didn't topple over.

A 75-year old lady was near me asked if I were alright.  Embarrassed, I lied.

"I'm fine, just a bruised ego.  You'd expect this of a woman three times my age."

You should see the bruise.  It's nasty.

And then, today...

I went to another store and got a cart because I learned my lesson yesterday.  After scanning all my items the cashier told me the total.  My purse was no where to be found.

Embarrassing.

A quick trip to the car didn't produce my wallet.  Groceries aside (already bagged!) Mr. Intensity and I went home, where my purse was waiting by the door.

When you KNOW something is going to bruise or it IS bruising smear it with Vaseline. The old bad icky kind from when we were kids. Vaseline causes the body to leech vitamins & minerals. It will literally pull the blood that forms the bruise out. As a VERY pale (nearly albino), clumsy white girl with a formerly adventurous (3 kids & 100lbs later) life I know about bruising. So smear it on & it'll help with the pain & it's great when kiddies are learning how to walk & are getting bruised up. Great for preggy bodies that are tired & suddenly give out. So don't moisturize with Vaseline...rid yourself of bruises! Also, Arnica Montana is safe to take during pregnancy & it'll help heal the bruise. Good luck & pleasant birthing.

Ow! And been there and done that! Now that the babe's out, I go around the house to do something and by the time I get to the room, I'm like, "What am I here for?"

Oh,thanks for checking out the devotions, but really, Melanie's devotions helped so much! You should check it out!http://myattadvent.blogspot.com/2008/12/hark-herald-angels-sing.html

One time when I was pregnant, I went to the grocery store by myself in the evening. I bought my groceries, got in the minivan, drove home, opened my van...and it was completely empty.

After staring at it for a good minute, I got back in, drove back to the store, pulled into the parking lot, straight up the cart that was still full of my groceries, waiting for me.

The mind is a terrible thing to waste, huh?
